After a slight absence from blogging due to multiple receptions, holiday travels, and general merriment with family and friends, I am back to continue on my quest of getting y'all completely caught up on the adventures of Mr. & Mrs. Lopez!
Today's story? Our move! After Lucas and I got back to Ithaca from our honeymoon, we finished packing a few boxes, picked up our 16 footer moving van, and headed off on our 2000+ mile trip home to New Mexico (home for Lucas, "new" home for Christy). We started on Friday morning by 6:00am (it was still dark out...yuck) and pulled into Las Cruces on Sunday night three days later by about 9:00pm. We were both exhausted from driving (yes, the short woman also drove the big truck..irony at its best), but oh so glad to be home...at our home.
We did not have any issues on the trip, save one elaborate detour to avoid crazy traffic that took us under an overpass within two inches of us (we were 16' 6'', the overpass had clearance of 16' 8'') and a mysterious engine light that turned on midway across the country. With Lucas at the wheel, Christy and a very nice helpline operator named Bill were able to determine the light was simply an oversensitivity of the computer that turned off within 100 miles. I don't think either of us would volunteer for another cross country drive just yet, but it was honestly fun to travel together, eat snacks in the truck, be able to stay in the same hotel room :), and appreciate the different kinds of beauty that exist all across our nation.
